needs considering their learning styles and developmental
Teaching Tools that Work
Midland staff uses multi-sensory, research-
based strategies to address all core
curriculum areas. Assistive technology
and field trips make learning motivating
and accessible for all students.
Skills Beyond the Classroom
Midland students' fitness and motor
skills are developed in Adaptive Physical
Education classes. The fine arts are
addressed in music, shop and art classes.
Foundations for Independence
Midland's curriculum extends beyond
the core areas. A comprehensive social
skills program and weekly instruction in a
variety of adapted living skills prepare our
students for success in the community.
Integrated Related Services
Midland's Speech, Physical and
Occupational Therapists work with teaching
staff to identify each student's needs in these
areas. A variety of models are used to
implement therapy services. School
Psychologists and Social Workers are
available to provide counseling.
Developing Life Long Work
Midland's career development program is
part of every student's schedule. Students
learn and use specific work skills and
behaviors through standardized tasks,
simulated work clusters and job training
placements. These are the building blocks
for success upon graduation.

child-centered, caring environment is

Teamwork Enhances Success
Midland’s students are most successful
when school and home work together.
Ongoing communication, educational
workshops, an active parents’ association
and family recreational activities all
contribute to the important relationship
between home and school.
